While Betty Rexford may or may not have committed some transgressions (reference the recently settled lawsuit), the real culprit here is much bigger and has more far-reaching implications.

Those who have been paying attention will note that the Chairman of the San Diego Republican Party, Tony Krvaric, has decided to get involved with petty Poway politics. He has even spoken at our Poway City Council meeting. In addition, there has been a large group of TEABAGGERS (not Powegian TEABAGGERS, by the way) at the Poway council chambers with picket signs reading “UGLY BETTY”, etc.

Now why would Krvaric and The San Diego Republican Party do this??? Hmmmm...... Let's try to connect the dots. The RNC lost big time in last November's election. Thus the Republicans are going back to their trusty old playbook of getting involved at the grassroots level with local political campaigns. Their hope is always to look for a few special "rising star" types.

Well, who could be a bigger rising star than Poway’s own City Council Member, Merrilee Boyack??? Ms. Boyack, as hard-working REGION CHAIRPERSON for PROP 8 (anti-gay marriage) on last November's ballot, surely is an attention-getter. (Bigotry and hatred always tend to stand out like a sore thumb.) One can only assume that Ms. Boyack is viewed by the San Diego Republican Party as California's answer to Sarah Palin.

Thus, the San Diego Republican Party has decided to hitch their wagon to Boyack's rising star. And, knowing that Ms. Boyack intends to run for Poway Mayor, they have decided to throw the San Diego Republican Party's considerable weight around by "greasing the skids" for her. What better way to do this than to assist Ms. Boyack in her personal efforts to clean house in Poway's City Council Chambers. It's obvious that Ms. Boyack would like nothing more than to get rid of Betty Rexford. Assuming that Boyack wins the election, this would eliminate one huge potential thorn in Boyack's butt, once she takes over as Mayor.

In Poway, it’s important to note that incumbents tend to ALWAYS get elected. Although Rexford has stated that she will likely not be a candidate, Merrilee would like to line up a personally-selected appointee to replace Rexford who will then become a very elect-able incumbent in the next election. Merrilee has future political aspirations -- well beyond Poway borders --- and needs to have a "compliant" council in Poway who will allow her to shine. Headstrong "troublemakers" and those with progressive ideals need not apply!!!

So, folks ---- LET'S GET REAL ---- Believe what you want about Rexford's alleged transgressions. Just keep the big picture in mind. And remember that some ultra-conservative right-wingers, such as Steve Vaus, leader of the recall effort, and San Diego Republican Party Chairman, Tony Krvaric and others are behind the big push for Rexford's recall and/or resignation for their own political agendas ---- which have very little to do with what is helpful for Poway.LET'S GET REALnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1057262584896477189.post-61698127547789458982009-12-02T19:22:40.038-08:002009-12-02T19:22:40.038-08:00Chris,

He rides the anti-government, anti- politician frenzy by painting Rexford as a criminal who let other people's houses burn while she got a firetruck babysitting her house. As part of the recall process, he got a whole bunch of local contacts, people he could email with an appeal for angel money to help pay for his show.

It will be interesting to see if Vaus and the other recallers get involved in demanding a resignation or redress for other cases that cost the city money. So far, I haven't heard a peep out of them.Chris Crusehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06489810250555135219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1057262584896477189.post-25371586964421173512009-11-30T08:35:14.893-08:002009-11-30T08:35:14.893-08:00This is a very interesting post. In the same category--I found this curious link:

http://www.uhuh.com/impeach/vausong.htm

. . . going back to the Clinton administration.

In general, I feel whistleblowers, muckrakers, and rabble rousers can serve an important function in society. However, a profit motive will quickly compromise their efforts

With respect to Mr. Vaus, it's my impression he is a political crusader. It is a nice niche for him and I expect it does help sell his brand of music. This time, a target fell close to home; that being the city's action in the Rexford-related case.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1057262584896477189.post-895651464357112602009-11-26T19:00:26.515-08:002009-11-26T19:00:26.515-08:00Wow.
